The state government, represented by Advocate-General A. Sudarshan Reddy, informed the Telangana High Court on Monday that the Pharma City project, initiated under GO 31 by the previous BRS administration, will continue as planned. This statement was made during hearings regarding several writ petitions and contempt cases filed by approximately 150 petitioners from the villages of Medipally, Nanaknagar, and Kurmida, whose lands are impacted by the project.
Previously, residents of Medipally and Kurmida had successfully challenged the land acquisition proceedings, leading the court to annul the acquisition awards. Petitioners from Nanaknagar also obtained a stay on the acquisition.
Despite these legal victories, the petitioners argued that their lands remain on the government’s prohibition list, hindering their access to benefits such as the Rythu Bandhu scheme, crop loans, and land transactions.
The judge directed the government to submit an affidavit outlining the status of negotiations with the villagers and efforts to resolve the matter, adjourning the case for four weeks.
