HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Relief and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has accelerated its efforts to demolish illegal constructions at Errakunta Cheruvu in Bachupally.
On Thursday morning, HYDRAA authorities brought down several multistoried buildings under construction at the full tank level (FTL) of the water body. Following directives from HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, the team used a large JCB machine to dismantle the structures, including three buildings designed with stilt plus five floors.
The demolition began on Wednesday night after Ranganath inspected the site and noted that the unauthorized buildings were encroaching on Survey No. 134. A private builder had constructed these structures on over 1,000 square yards of land, which had encroached upon the water body.
The action is part of a broader initiative to address illegal constructions in and around water bodies, ensuring that such encroachments are removed to protect the environment and maintain proper water levels.
