HYDERABAD: BRS working president KT Rama Rao issued an apology on X (formerly Twitter) for his "off-the-cuff" remarks, expressing regret and emphasizing that he meant no offense to women. The Telangana State Commission for Women has issued a notice requiring Rama Rao to appear in person on August 24 to address his alleged derogatory comments about women.
The controversy arose from comments Rama Rao made during a party meeting on Thursday, where he referred to "break dance and record dance" while discussing the challenges faced by women using the free RTC bus travel scheme.
Forests Minister Konda Surekha criticized Rama Rao's apology on X, asserting that a public apology was necessary. “Rama Rao should offer a formal apology to women,” Surekha stated, adding that such remarks reflect poorly on those who make them.
Surekha also suggested that KTR’s comments had undermined the BRS's efforts to accuse Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of insulting women during a recent Assembly session.
