Aqua Prawn Farmers Association Hails Union Budget for Reducing Customs Duties

VIJAYAWADA:GKF Subbaraju, Secretary of the Aqua Prawn Farmers Association of Andhra Pradesh, praised the Union Budget for its decision to implement zero customs duty on certain imports. He highlighted that this move will benefit hatcheries and boost the growth of aqua product exports.
Speaking at an event organized by the Aqua Prawn Farmers Association at the Tulasi Convention Centre in Veeravasaram, Subbaraju expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the reduction in customs duty on products used in prawn feed production. The event was attended by numerous farmers and representatives.
In a gesture of appreciation, farmers anointed portraits of the Prime Minister and Finance Minister with milk. Subbaraju emphasized that the zero customs duty on specific imports will significantly benefit the industry and noted the government's interest in establishing nucleus breeding centers in India to reduce reliance on foreign broodstock.
Gandhi Bhagavan Raju, President of the Jai Bharat Ksheerarama Aqua Association in Palakollu, called on the State government to ensure that feed manufacturers implement the changes to reduce prawn feed costs by at least Rs 20 per kg.
