Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams Begin at Srisailam Temple Today
The grand Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams will begin today (Wednesday, February 19) at the famous Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peetha, Srisailam Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple. The festivities will last for 11 days, from February 19 to March 1. The temple authorities have made all the necessary arrangements for this grand celebration. The temple has been beautifully decorated with colorful lights and paintings to welcome devotees from all over India.
Devotees from the Telugu states and other parts of the country are expected to arrive in large numbers, many of them walking through the Nallamala hills as part of their pilgrimage. Special arrangements, including drinking water, accommodation, and health facilities, have been made to ensure the comfort of the devotees. Additional queue lines have been set up for darshan, and 300ml water bottles and light refreshments will be provided. Free laddus will be distributed from February 24 to 27.
The temple EO, Srinivas Rao, estimates that around 8 lakh devotees will visit during the 11-day Brahmotsavams. Free darshan and special queue lines have been arranged for Shiva devotees. Several parking areas across 39 acres have been set up, and free shuttle buses will transport devotees to the temple. The main events during the Brahmotsavams include various Vahana Sevas, Radhotsavam (chariot procession), Teppotsavam (float festival), and the special Maha Shivaratri night pujas on February 26.
