Telangana to Allow Muslim Employees to Leave Offices Early During Ramzan

The Telangana government has announced that Muslim employees will be allowed to leave their offices early during the Ramzan fasting month. The decision, made on February 17, will take effect from March 2 to March 31, depending on the moon sighting.

Government Order on Early Leave

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari issued a government order allowing all Muslim employees, including government staff, teachers, contract employees, and public sector employees, to leave work at 4 p.m. during the month of Ramzan. This early leave will allow them to offer their prayers, except in case of urgent service requirements.

Special Arrangements for Ramzan at Mosques

The Minorities Welfare Department has made special arrangements for Taraweeh prayers and other facilities at historic mosques like Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid (Royal Mosque). They have also ensured the supply of 2,250 kg of dates for worshippers at key locations, including Charminar and Secretariat Mosque.

Support for Imams and Muezzins

In another move, the Telangana Waqf Board has released Rs 15.37 crore to pay pending honorariums for 10,700 imams and muezzins across the state. This amount covers arrears for the last two months, ensuring that imams and muezzins receive their Rs 5,000 monthly honorarium during Ramzan.
