Hyderabad, November 5: In the past 24 hours, authorities in Telangana have seized a total of over Rs 10.35 crore worth of cash, precious metals, liquor, and various items, officials reported on Sunday.
As a result, the overall value of pre-election seizures has now exceeded Rs 490 crore.
Within this 24-hour timeframe, which concluded at 9 a.m. on November 5, enforcement agencies confiscated Rs 2.53 crore in cash across the state. This brings the total cash seizures to Rs 172 crore since the implementation of the model code of conduct on October 9.
Precious metals worth Rs 75 lakh were also seized during this period, raising the cumulative precious metal seizure to Rs 176 crore. This includes 282 kg of gold, 1,167 kg of silver, 19,269 carats of diamonds, and 5.35 grams of platinum.
According to data from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, 4,558 liters of liquor were confiscated from 9 a.m. on November 4 to 9 a.m. on November 5. The total value of seized liquor and black jaggery now stands at Rs 60 crore, with a total of 1.12 lakh liters of liquor seized so far. Enforcement agencies also seized ganja and NDPS substances worth over Rs 78.84 lakh in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative value of these seizures to Rs 28.61 crore, including 6,233 kgs of ganja.
Additionally, authorities continued their efforts to curb the distribution of other election-related freebies. In the last 24 hours, they seized rice, sarees, and other items with a combined value of Rs 1.95 crore, bringing the total seizure to Rs 52.51 crore. These seized items include 1.61 lakh kg of rice, 9,159 cookers, 69,266 sarees, seven 2-wheelers, five 4-wheelers, 9,629 clocks, 72,047 mobile phones, 5,778 fans, 101 sewing machines, 362 lunch boxes, and 15,388 pieces of imitation jewelry.
