In Warangal district's Chintala Tanda, a tragic incident unfolded on Thursday morning when M. Nagaraju allegedly murdered his wife's parents, B. Srinivas (40) and Suguna (35). Nagaraju, an auto driver from Gundenga village in Mahabubabad district, reportedly attacked the victims with a sickle. The motive behind the gruesome act stemmed from his frustration over their opposition to his marriage with their daughter, B. Deepika.
Nagaraju had fallen in love with Deepika during her studies in Hanamkonda. Despite objections from both families, the couple eloped and got married in October 2023. However, tensions escalated when Deepika returned home and informed her parents of her pregnancy, leading them to arrange for her abortion.
The situation worsened when Deepika's parents continued to resist their daughter's return to Nagaraju. In response, he launched a fatal assault on Srinivas and Suguna with a sickle early Thursday morning. Deepika and her brother, Madan Lal, attempted to intervene and were also injured in the attack before Nagaraju fled the scene.
Local residents responded to the commotion and alerted the Chennaraopet police, who promptly arrived with forensic teams. Deepika and Madan Lal were rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment, while the bodies of Srinivas and Suguna were transferred to Narsampet Government Hospital for postmortem.
The incident sparked tension and protests by relatives of the victims at the hospital, demanding swift and severe action against Nagaraju. Police officials assured the family members, leading to the eventual dispersal of the protest in Narsampet Town.
As of now, a case has been registered, and efforts are underway to apprehend Nagaraju, who remains at large following the heinous crime.
